Jekyll Island Under Attack By House Republicans

House bill threatens Jekyll Island - Opinions

The Georgia House of Representatives has introduced a bill, HB 214, that recommends Jekyll Island be opened up for development. Yes, this means bulldozing those protected dunes, destroying sea turtle nests (according to www.georgiaseaturtles.org, there are 114 active nest sites to date), threatening marshland and forest habitats and demolishing the beauty of Jekyll's natural setting.

Georgia Tax Cuts & History A Myth

This is what happens when Republicans try to throw a block party. Everybody thinks the invitation applies to him. As they did two years ago, GOP lawmakers said they had reserved Saturday, Feb. 10, for ‘Family Day’ at the state Capitol — a day to draw back the curtain of legislative mystery for the glowing faces of young children, to allow them to discover for themselves that the world of politics is very much like the world of Spongebob Squarepants, right down to the squirrel with the fishbowl on his head.

Rep. Alan Powell Draws a Right-Wing-Nut Opponent for HD 29

Mike Griffin announced this week he is a Republican candidate for the Georgia House of Representatives. He seeks to represent District 29, which includes Hart County and portions of Franklin and Madison counties.

Griffin said he is “a mainstream conservative” and said he shares “the basic values of the people of Northeast Georgia.”
